This year, Harris Moran has the unique honor of being selected as the Official Rodeo Tomato for the 2019 San Antonio Livestock and Rodeo.
The Harris Moran tomato variety, HM-8849 is known for its high-yield with extra-large fruit and resistance to verticillium wilt, fusarium wilt, fusarium crown and root rot. The plant was chosen because it consistently produces firm fruit that ripens uniformly with a deep rich color, and smooth skin.
“Each year, a new tomato variety is selected by Texas A&M AgriLife to be the official tomato of the event.Selection of the rodeo tomato is a 20-plus-year tradition”
~David Rodriguez, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service horticulturist, Bexar County.
Rodriguez said proceeds from the plant sale will be used to help fund Junior Master Gardener Scholarships.
