HM.CLAUSE, hosts Vilmorin & Cie’s annual information trip, this year to the fields of Provence.

Every year, financial analysts and journalists from the financial press that follow Vilmorin & Cie (Limagrain’s seeds activities) are invited to an information trip to learn about the various aspects of our industry.

This year, the HM.CLAUSE research center in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and vegetable production in Provence were afforded this honor.

For this reason, on April 25 and 26, 2017, twenty participants found themselves in the heart of Provence for two days of discussions and activities.

The first day was dedicated to a presentation of HM.CLAUSE, its identity and business, with a particular focus on the profession of plant breeding, using the example of summer squash. After a presentation by our summer squash breeding coordinator on his job and assignments, the participants were able to experience something unique: creating their very own summer squash hybrid.

Sowing, transplanting, watering as well as hybridization and line breeding were part of the agenda.

The day continued with a guided tour of the research center and its facilities.

The second day was dedicated to a field visit. Shippers and growers, who are HM.CLAUSE customers, shared their experience concerning the very specific criteria our varieties have to meet. Fruit quality and agronomic performance were at the heart of the discussions.

The tour ended by visiting a farm primarily focused on fresh, tasty tomatoes, grown using traditional methods, which included our varieties BUFFALOSTEAK, HONEY MOON, CUPIDISSIMO and LIPSO.

According to participants, it was a very instructive trip, and they returned home with a few specialties from Provence to enjoy.
