We are pleased to announce that our very own Leonard Jones, US Western Region Business Manager, has been elected as the President of the California Seed Association. Leonard, who has been a board member for the past 5 years, was elected and sworn in on March 16th during this years’ annual meeting.
The California Seed Association is a nonprofit agricultural trade association that has served the seed industry since 1940. The purpose of the Seed Association includes lobbying for issues related to seed treatments, label issues, and water issues. California is the most active state Seed Association and has strong backing from both vegetable and field seed companies.
The Association hosts two meetings a year. These meetings last three days and usually happen in March and mid-September or October. In this year’s meeting in March, Leonard Jones was nominated and elected as the new President. In this new role, Leonard will focus on issues that are of interest and concern to the members.
Currently, the association has 131 companies involved, including HM.CLAUSE. The current association consists of individuals coming from businesses that may be competing, but as a member, they stand as a united front and focus on issues that are currently affecting the seed industry. The Association has worked with ASTA on state and federal issues and is involved in legislation to improve the efforts of the seed industry and help its members stay profitable.
We are extremely delighted to celebrate this accomplishment for Leonard and are thrilled to see all that Leonard does in this position.
