As Deputy CEO, Mr. Balen manages the global heads of supply chain, marketing, research & development, quality assurance, IT and communications. His appointment to Deputy CEO in 2018 follows a wide-ranging career with the company that spans more than two decades. His experience has provided him valuable exposure to different facets of the business and different cultures around the world. His most recent position was Global VP of Marketing, where he was instrumental in building up an internationally distributed and diverse marketing team in accordance with the long-term strategic aims of the organization. He also led the cross-functional effort to develop and refine a critical business process known as the Strategic Crop Review.
Mr. Balen holds a master’s degree in Horticulture from École Nationale des Ingénieurs des Techniques Horticoles in Angers (France). He is based out of Portes-lès-Valence, France.
